Tayuya (Cayaponia tayuya) root – 32 oz. (1 kg.) bulk powder.
Preparations
Tayuya is a bitter-tasting vine growing in the Amazon rainforest in Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. In Brazil, the vine is highly regarded among traditional herbalists as a plant believed to have purifying effects. The powdered root is traditionally taken as an infusion (tea) at a dosage of 1 cup, 2 or 3 times daily.
To prepare the infusion, place 2 g of the powdered root in a tea ball or gauze bag and allow the powder to steep in 250 mL of freshly boiled hot water in a covered ceramic pot for 10–15 minutes. Pour the infusion through a fine strainer to remove any sediment and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well-sealed container.
