Picão Preto (Bidens pilosa) whole herb – 32 oz. (1 kg.) bulk powder. 

Preparations:

Picão Preto is used in the form of a tincture, infusion (tea), decoction, and in capsules. Traditionally, Picão Preto is prepared decoction taken at a dosage of 1 cup, 1 to 3 times daily. 

To prepare a decoction of Picão Preto, 1 tsp. of the powdered whole herb is used for each 8 oz. of water. Using medium-high heat, bring water to a boil in an open ceramic pot and then add the powder. Reduce the heat to medium-low and place the lid on the pot. Allow the mixture to simmer for 20 minutes. Pour the mixture through a fine strainer and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well-sealed container.
